Wight the Automaton
Name: Wight
No last name. Just Wight.
Origin: Automaton
District: Bluehaven
Mods: Gearpunk
Signature Gear: pneumatically extendable fingers designed for picking locks and prying open small items.
Occupation: digging through secrets and scraps
Description: Wight is a quadrupedal automaton. A very, very old model, with abundant patches of grime and dust. They skitter around more like an insect than a person, and their shorter, front-facing precision limbs almost resemble mandibles. Wight was not built with any sort of artificial larynx, speaker, or mouth with which to communicate. Rather, their face is dominated only by two beady black photosensor eyes. This does not stop Wight from making their mind known.
Personality: Curious, alien, patient, reclusive
Backstory: Wight was built a very long time ago, although they don’t remember much about that time at all. They awoke from a deep deactivation cycle inside a long-abandoned workshop buried under Bluehaven. Since that time, Wight has been carefully watching and learning about the loud, hissing world above, hoping to learn more about why they were made. And, just as importantly, by whom
A quiet click-click-click sound fills the dark halls of a library, which has been locked and closed for the night for several hours. Luckily, mundane locks are not a problem for Wight, who is skittering carefully over the checkered tiles to the history section. They are careful to note the position of every book before choosing one from the shelf. Everything must be put back exactly as it was found, so that it is never known that there was a nighttime visitor.
